AEW’s roster consists of several veterans. Names like Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Chris Jericho, Jeff Jarrett, Dustin Rhodes, Paul Wight, and more have decades of in-ring experience. Tony Khan has immense faith in them and has been utilizing them well.
AEW signed MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Bobby Lashley in 2024. This trio is collectively known as the Hurt Syndicate. Montel Vontavious Porter spent years in WWE. He has held the United States Championship twice and has wrestled in WrestleMania. However, in a recent appearance on Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze, he revealed that his time in NJPW was the funnest time of his career.
The AEW star said that wrestling in NJPW was a dream come true for him.
“My time in New Japan was the funnest time of my career. Because I tell people like it was a dream, a literal dream come true for me. And people were like, “Yeah, but you you’ve been a Wrestlemania.” Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I did all that. It was a goal. It was something I wanted to accomplish. But the most nervous that I had ever been before a match in my entire career was my first match at Korakuen Hall. I was backstage pacing,” he said.
MVP is a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion. It will be interesting to see him wrestle in the Japanese promotion again someday.
AEW star MVP calls Triple H a liar and a coward
Montel Vontavious Porter dislikes Triple H. In a May 2026 episode of Marking Out, he said that he left WWE because the Game was in charge. He called the WWE Hall of Famer a liar and a coward.
“I made up my mind, I don’t want to be here anymore, and if Triple H is in charge, then I definitely don’t want to be here because I don’t like Triple H. I don’t respect Triple H. I think he’s a coward and a liar,” he said. [H/T: Fightful]
It is unlikely that things will ever be okay between Triple H and MVP. However, there is a popular saying in the world of wrestling: never say never.
