    The trajectory of Tommaso Ciampa’s upcoming match against Chris Jericho at AEW Redemption 2026 might change at the hands of a former WWE Champion.

    The aforementioned star, who has won the WWE Championship twice, is Paul Wight (fka The Big Show). Chris Jericho and Tommaso Ciampa have been engaged in a heated feud for the last few weeks. The Psycho Killer managed to defeat Jericho in a singles match at Beach Break 2026. Following that, Jericho challenged him to a rematch at the Redemption PPV. However, this time, he will bring back his iconic heel ‘Painmaker’ persona to battle Ciampa at the event.

    Amid their rivalry, the former DIY member has dragged Jericho’s longtime friend and AEW veteran, Paul Wight, who has been serving as a commentator for Collision since last week. On the July 25 episode of Collision, right after his match against Zachary Wentz, Ciampa cut a promo by mocking Jericho’s Painmaker gimmick and stared down Paul Wight throughout the match. Moreover, the former NXT Champion even gave an intense stare to the World’s Largest Athlete as he was exiting the ringside area.

    Ciampa’s repeated altercations with Paul Wight might have provoked him to the point that he could get involved in his match against Jericho at Redemption PPV. This could see him cost Ciampa the bout, help Jericho beat him, and perhaps start a rivalry between them after the pay-per-view, which could lead to an interesting program on AEW television.

    On tonight’s Collision episode, Tommaso Ciampa had one final message before he battled Chris Jericho at the Redemption 2026 PPV. The former WWE Tag Team Champion claimed that he was better than the Painmaker and vowed that their match would be violent.

    “Tommaso Ciampa is better than Chris Jericho, and the Psycho Killer is better than Painmaker. One more sleep and your a** is mine. Montreal, Redemption. It will be violent,” he said.
