The squad marks the return of Ravindra Jadeja, while all-rounder Saransh Jain has earned his maiden Test call-up. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan have also been included, although both players’ participation remains subject to fitness clearance.
India’s squad: Shubman Gill (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sai Sudharsan, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Saransh Jain.
Since 2020, several players have received call-ups to India’s Test squad but are still awaiting their debut. On that note, here’s a look at five uncapped players who have been named in India’s Test squads since 2020 but are not part of the 2026 series against Sri Lanka.
#1 Ruturaj Gaikwad
Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad received his maiden Test call-up for India’s two-match series against the West Indies in 2023. While Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Mukesh Kumar all made their Test debuts during the tour, Gaikwad remained on the sidelines and did not feature in either match.
The 29-year-old is yet to make his debut in the longest format. In 47 first-class matches, he has scored 3,294 runs at an average of 44.51, including 17 half-centuries and nine centuries, with a career-best score of 195.
#2 Tanush Kotian
Mumbai all-rounder Tanush Kotian earned his maiden Test call-up for the final two matches of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, replacing Ravichandran Ashwin after the veteran spinner announced his retirement following the third Test of the series.
The 27-year-old has not been part of India’s Test setup since then. In 44 first-class matches, Kotian has claimed 131 wickets at an average of 27.48 and a strike rate of 48.2, including three five-wicket hauls, with best figures of 5/58.
Kotian has also impressed with the bat, scoring 2,168 runs in 65 first-class innings at an average of 42.50. His tally includes 17 half-centuries and two centuries, with a highest score of an unbeaten 120.
#3 Abhimanyu Easwaran
Opening batter Abhimanyu Easwaran earned his maiden Test call-up for India’s tour of England in 2021. Since then, he has been included in multiple Test squads, including those for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the 2025 England tour. However, the right-hander is still awaiting his debut and currently finds himself out of contention.
The Bengal batter boasts immense first-class experience, having featured in 113 matches. He has amassed 8,381 runs at an average of 47.61, including 36 half-centuries and 26 centuries, with a highest score of 233.
#4 Narayan Jagadeesan
Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter Narayan Jagadeesan earned his maiden Test call-up during India’s tour of England in 2025, replacing the injured Rishabh Pant in the squad for the fifth and final match. However, he did not make his debut.
Later that year, Jagadeesan was also included in India’s squad for the home Test series against the West Indies but again failed to get a game before being left out of the squad for the subsequent home Test series against South Africa.
The right-hander has an impressive first-class record, having scored 3,866 runs in 59 matches at an average of 46.57. His tally includes 16 half-centuries and 11 centuries, with a career-best score of 321.
#5 Harsh Dubey
The final name on the list is Harsh Dubey, who recently earned his maiden call-up for the one-off Test against Afghanistan in June 2026. However, he did not get a chance to make his debut and has now missed out on the squad for the Sri Lanka series.
Overall, the 24-year-old has featured in 28 first-class matches, picking up 136 wickets at an average of 23.55 and a strike rate of 46.1. His record includes nine five-wicket hauls, with best figures of 6/36. Dubey has also contributed with the bat, scoring 1,085 runs at an average of 25.83, including nine half-centuries, with a highest score of 84.
