ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that the Golden State Warriors are bringing back star forward Draymond Green on a new one-year deal. The Warriors and Green agreed to a $27.7 million contract to remain with the organization that drafted him.
Charania added that the $27.7 million deal is the same value as the player option Green opted out of this summer. The four-time champion opted out of the contract since the Warriors tried to pursue LeBron James in free agency. Unfortunately for Golden State, they missed out on James, who eventually signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Thanks for the submission!

After it was reported that Green is back with the Warriors, NBA fans were stunned by the contract he signed. Here are some of what the fans said about the four-time All-Star’s new deal.
“This is the final nail in the coffin, what a ride it’s been Dub Nation,” a fan said.
“8/5/5 averaging 3 turnovers a game, investigate this deal immediately @NBA,” another fan commented.
“Almost 30 million for a dude who’s gonna give you 5 points and 6 rebounds lmaooo,” one fan said.
More fans thought that the Warriors signed Draymond Green to a massive contract.
“$27.7M for a guy who spends more time arguing with refs than scoring,” someone commented.
“Draymond really left $27.7M on the table just to run the whole thing back 😭 Definition of betting on yourself,” a comment read.
“lol warriors paying him 30 million 😭 they’re finished,” one fan commented.
Draymond Green Says He Wasn’t Surprised by LeBron James’ Decision
Most NBA fans were caught off guard when LeBron James signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. They thought that he would stay close to his family and sign with the Golden State Warriors. The fans also believe that the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers had a better chance at landing him because of his history with both franchises.
On the recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the Warriors star revealed that he had prior knowledge of the news. Green said that it was the reason why he wasn’t surprised by the decision.
“I wasn’t blindsided because I know a few people that know a few people,” he said. “And I knew the stuff was in the works. So I wasn’t quite blindsided. However, I didn’t know exactly when the announcement would come. I didn’t know exactly how the announcement would come.”
Draymond Green tried to recruit James to the Warriors this offseason. The two spent some time in Puerto Rico, and Green admitted that he used that time to pitch to the four-time champion.
Unfortunately for Green and the Warriors, the 76ers’ roster looked more appealing to the four-time MVP.
