The New Orleans Saints figured out a way to bring back one longtime franchise standout in running back Alvin Kamara. They did not have the same solution with another in do-everything-utility-man Taysom Hill.
Hill announced on social media on Wednesday night that he will not be returning to the Saints for a 10th season.
He did not offer any insight as to where, or if, he will play football in 2026.

The 35-year-old Hill has been a member of the Saints since the 2017 season and has been one of the more versatile offensive players in the league during that time.
After playing college at BYU, Hill’s NFL career saw him play at running back, tight end, wide receiver and quarterback and become a favorite of former Saints head coach Sean Payton.
During his nine years with the Saints, he accumulated 2,551 yards rushing on 489 attempts, while also scoring 34 touchdowns. Along with that, he caught 110 passes for 1,034 yards and 11 touchdowns, while also completing 195-of-308 passing attempts for 2,246 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
While a lot of those passes came in trick plays or wildcat-type formations, he also started nine games at quarterback for the Saints between the 2020 and 2021 seasons, with the team going 7-2 in those starts.
As popular and productive as Hill has been for the Saints, this development should not be much of a surprise. He showed serious signs of slowing down in 2025 and had one of the least-effective seasons of his career across all phases of the game. Given his age, and given where the Saints are at this point, it makes sense that they are looking for a new direction.
