Rumors of LIV Golf’s impending death were greatly exaggerated

The future of LIV Golf was up in the air after the Saudi Public Investment Fund pulled its funding after four years and billions of dollars invested into the league.

On Wednesday, however, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil announced that an investor has now emerged to keep the league going in 2027 and beyond.

“LIV Golf has an agreement in place with a lead investor, signed by the investor and approved by the board, to anchor the transaction and play a key role in supporting the path forward for the league’s next era, driven by and for the players,” O’Neil said at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Financial specifics and the name of the investor were not revealed, although O’Neil said he anticipates the league going on in “2028, 2029 and 2030.”
