Dating a cheerleader comes with a lot of public attention and concerns, especially for NFL athletes. Fans have long wondered about the consequences of any conflict of interest between Summers and DeJean. On the “Exciting Mics” podcast on July 16, the Philadelphia Eagles safety dismissed such concerns:
“I don’t really think it’s a conflict of interest. Could be messy. I mean, it’s not like we both play football. She’s a cheerleader. There is going to be no insider information given either way.”
Before the couple made their relationship official, DeJean was linked with WWE icon Nikki Bella. In fact, when asked about his speculated romance with Bella, the safety played coy. Thus, when his romance with the Cowboys cheerleader came into light, there were mixed reactions from fans.
Cooper DeJean shared rare details on relationship timeline with gf Abby Summers
In another segment of the podcast, Cooper DeJean reflected on his buzzing romance with Abby Summers and shared a brief relationship timeline. According to the Eagles safety, the couple first met in Florida. The two attended the College Football Playoff title game between the Indiana Hoosiers and Miami Hurricanes.
“We happened to be both in Florida at the same time during the national championship game. She was down there, and I was down there, and then I met her there,” he said.
“I believe the next weekend was the Super Bowl, and she was out there also. And we had hung out there a couple times, and after that, we kept seeing each other and hanging out.”
Shortly after the Super Bowl, Summers and DeJean were spotted at the Illinois vs. Iowa basketball matchup. Their meetup ended up drawing a five-word reaction from Jason Kelce.
