A highly popular female AEW star who’s been on an unexplained hiatus from the company has revealed a new look amid her absence.
The star in the limelight is none other than Queen Aminata. The 33-year-old who joined All Elite Wrestling in 2024 quickly became a standout performer in both AEW and sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH). While she continues to shine on ROH TV, her last appearance in the Jacksonville-based promotion came on a Collision episode in mid July 2026, where she challenged then-TBS champion Hikaru Shida for the title in a losing effort.
While the wrestling world awaits her return to All Elite Wrestling, Aminata took time to share a major personal update on her social media. On X, the Guinean professional wrestler shared a couple of pictures of her new afro. Time will reveal if this hairstyle change will signify a character change or new gimmick for the beloved star.
“Hello Afro hair,” wrote Aminata.

Queen Aminata recently revealed her AEW contract status
Queen Aminata signed a three-year agreement with AEW in early 2024. As the date moved closer to the expiration of that deal, fans of the star wondered if her status in the promotion would change for the better or worse. Aminata eased tensions earlier this year when she revealed that Tony Khan’s promotion had extended her deal to February 2027. This is despite her suffering a major neck injury in November 2025 that sidelined her for a number of months.
“I’m so much happier now, so calmer. AEW extended my beautiful, juicy contract to February 2027. Even though my neck is messed up right now and I can’t wrestle, I’m very happy and very motivated.” [H/T Drainmaker on X]
At 33, Queen Aminata still has a lot of ground to cover in All Elite Wrestling. Interestingly, she has yet to win any gold in the promotion, but given her stature, The Guinean Queen is due a singles title run sooner rather than later. That said, it will be interesting to see how President Tony Khan books her going forward.
