Former India batter Mohammad Kaif has lauded Prasidh Krishna for bowling a potent spell in the second Test against Sri Lanka. He pointed out that the relatively less experienced seamer has outbowled Mohammed Siraj in the ongoing series.
Krishna registered figures of 3/47 in 14 overs as India reduced Sri Lanka to 265/8 in their first innings at Stumps on Day 3 (Tuesday, August 25) in Colombo. The hosts trail the visitors by 238 runs heading into Day 4.
During a discussion on Sony Sports, Kaif praised Krishna for sticking to his strength and outshining the more experienced Siraj.
“I believe the fast bowlers have bowled well on this pitch, even the Sri Lankan fast bowlers, who took five wickets. Prasidh Krishna stuck to his natural length. He bowled fast, and you rarely see someone leave Siraj behind,” the cricketer-turned-commentator said.
“Siraj is a senior bowler. He has played close to 45 Test matches, and this is Krishna’s ninth Test. However, on this tour, whether it’s pace or effort, I feel Krishna has looked ahead in all aspects in this series. The three wickets he picked up was special bowling, if we talk about this match,” he added.
Mohammed Siraj registered figures of 1/33 in 11 overs in Sri Lanka’s first innings of the Colombo Test. He was down on pace and didn’t trouble the batters as much as Prasidh Krishna.

In the same discussion, former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara noted that Prasidh Krishna was successful on Day 3 when he changed his angle and bowled from around the wicket.
“He got success only when he changed his angle in today’s first session. They made a game plan. After that, he stuck to the short ball. Back-of-length delivery is his speciality, but along with that, he used the bouncer well,” he said.
The analyst added that the lanky pacer mixed his lengths brilliantly to pick up his three wickets.
“That’s why he got two wickets with bouncers, and the one wicket we saw yesterday was from the six-to-eight-meter length, where he bowls more. So his bowling needs to be praised. It was a good spell yesterday, and he also bowled well today. However, he will have to bowl well tomorrow as well,” Pujara observed.
Prasidh Krishna had Lahiru Udara brilliantly caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal at third slip on Day 2 of the Colombo Test. He had Kamil Mishara caught behind by Dhruv Jurel and Kamindu Mendis caught by Ravindra Jadeja at midwicket with short balls on Day 3.
