Brydon Carse’s nightclub incident under ECB investigation

The England National Cricket Team cricketers are never away from controversy and brawls off the field. Now, as per the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the team’s pacer Brydon Carse has been involved in an incident at a nightclub in Derby on Saturday. He was seen being put into handcuffs by police after the incident.

This is not the first time that any English cricketer has been involved in a fight or a brawl outside a nightclub. There have been several incidents that have been done by the cricketers, and they have been punished as per the charges they had, but things never change. The ECB might need to take severe action against cricketers who are involved in such cases.

ECB sheds light on Brydon Carse’s nightclub incident

The ECB said in a statement that they are well aware of the incident that happened in Derbyshire on Saturday, and they are investigating the matter; updates on the case will be provided once the investigation is done as soon as possible.

“We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night, and are currently investigating,” an ECB statement read. “We will provide a further update when possible.”

Will Brydon Carse be dropped from the team?

It is believed that Brydon Carse, who is in the squad for the second Test against Pakistan, which will take place this week at Lord’s, might be dropped or suspended from playing the match and the series after knowing the seriousness of the matter. As previously, the ECB has suspended cricketers for similar incidents.

The news comes five days after England skipper Joe Root asked his players to be “really good role models and human beings” as he began his second stint as Test captain. However, the opposite happened on the weekend as Brydon Carse could not be the ‘good role model.’

Ben Stokes again involved in a nightclub altercation

Former England Test captain Ben Stokes, and Carse’s County teammate, was also seen in the background of the video. Matthew Potts, another English cricketer and teammate of the pacer, was also seen chatting to him while he was being caught by the four police officers.

Brydon Carse was released from the first Test to play in the County Championship for Durham. He picked two wickets in the match, with his former captain Stokes being the star in the game who picked a fifer; he finished off his spell for 5-17, as Derbyshire were bowled out for 84.

Why was Ben Stokes suspended previously?

A few months back, a similar kind of incident happened when then England captain Ben Stokes and pacer Gus Atkinson were involved in a physical fight with a former Rugby player outside a nightclub while the cricketers were celebrating the win of the first Test against New Zealand.

However, both cricketers breached the curfew by partying at a nightclub, with the fight escalating the situation and ultimately leading to their suspension, as both cricketers were dropped from the second Test match against the Kiwis. They both came back in the third Test match, with Stokes announcing his retirement from international cricket in the same Test match.
