Arsenal sold both their left wingers, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, in the recently concluded transfer window but only sign Christos Tzolis in the role, who is also fairly inexperienced on the top level despite a convincing start to life at the club.
Mikel Arteta is likely to want another acquisition on the left flank sooner rather than later with the Gunners already drafting up plans for the transfer windows in 2027, when they are planning a raid on one of their title rivals.
Liverpool star Rio Ngumoha is of interest to Arsenal, according to Alan Nixon, with the Londoners keeping close tabs on the forward’s role at Anfield. There is a feeling that they could attempt his signing if the 18-year-old plays sporadically.
Following the Reds’ acquisitions of Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz, combined with Cody Gakpo’s decent form so far in the season, Ngumoha faces the proposition of being relegated to the bench if he does not put his best foot forward.
Top quality signing for Arsenal
Rio Ngumoha promises to be a brilliant signing for Arsenal if they can secure his services from Liverpool next year. Valued at £26 million on Transfermarkt, the teenager’s services are unlikely to cost a lot but his potential is massive.
Ngumoha is exceptional with the ball at his feet, especially in tight spaces. His low centre of gravity makes him a fabulous dribbler, who is able to dance past a number of defenders to create chances in the final third.
In addition to his raw skills on the ball, Ngumoha makes intelligent runs into the box to get on the end of chances and works hard without the ball, which is a skill Mikel Arteta would especially value if he can lure the youngster to the Emirates Stadium.
That said, Liverpool will do all they can to retain one of their most promising talents and it will be interesting to see how Andoni Iraola manages Ngumoha’s role with Arsenal keeping a close eye on any opportunity to sign him.
