Alexander Volkov recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming Ciryl Gane vs. Josh Hokit matchup.
Gane defeated Alex Pereira via second-round TKO at UFC Freedom 250 in June to win the interim heavyweight championship. After Tom Aspinall vacated the undisputed heavyweight title last month, Gane was promoted to full champion and will face his first title defense against Hokit at UFC 334 next month.
In a recent interview with Helen Yee, Volkov explained why he’s rooting for Hokit to beat Gane despite considering the Frenchman superior and claimed that the American heavyweight would be an easier fight for him. He said:
“This sport is unpredictable. Everybody has a chance to win. Of course, Ciryl Gane has more chances to win, like speaking seriously about it, but it’s never predictable. I can bet on Ciryl Gane. For me, the best way will be if Josh Hokit wins, and I win my fight, and we meet in a title shot.”

He added:
“For me, it will be the easiest fight ever, easier title shot. As I see my fight with Josh Hokit, sorry, Josh Hokit, I don’t want to say something bad about you. You are a nice guy. So, this is the easy way, but I don’t know what will really happen, but we should probably bet on Gane.”
Michael Bisping believes Josh Hokit will wrestle Ciryl Gane at UFC 334
Michael Bisping recently shared his thoughts on the Ciryl Gane vs. Josh Hokit title fight.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Bisping shared his preview of the heavyweight clash and said:
“Josh Hokit is going to wrestle Ciryl Gane; that’s just a fact. He has to wrestle Ciryl Gane. Ciryl Gane moves so well on the feet… He’s very, very light on the feet. He is very athletic, very explosive, and more importantly, really technical… So he’s [Hokit] got to be careful. He’s going to have to clean things up. He’s going to have to have a tighter guard, and he’s going to have to get the takedown.”
He added:
“It’s a real challenge. It’s a real struggle. It is a big mountain to climb for Josh Hokit. But if you look at what Josh Hokit has done, how can you underestimate the guy?… He’s 10-0, five fights in the last year, four in the UFC, one on the Contender, three of them by way of knockout, and he’s become one of the biggest names in all of the sport.” [H/t: MMA Junkie]
