Jose Mourinho gives surprise reason to skip Real Madrid press conference after red card to Vinicius Jr – Reports

Jose Mourinho has given his reason for skipping Real Madrid’s post-match press conference after Vinicius Jr’s red card. Los Blancos secured a 1-0 win against Villarreal on Saturday, October 10 but suffered a major setback after Vinicius Jr was brandished a red card

The Brazil international came on from the bench against the Yellow Submarine and thought he doubled Real Madrid’s lead in the 71st minute. However, the goal was ruled out as replay showed the 26-year-old pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair in the build-up.

The Brazilian was subsequently shown a straight red card and could now miss the next two league games. They face Sevilla at home and Barcelona away from home in their next two league games and could be without their star winger.

Jose Mourinho did not attend the post-match press conference after the game. As revealed by Madrid Xtra, the Portuguese manager did not want to be banned from the touchline in the next two LaLiga fixtures against Sevilla and Barcelona.

The Special One was reportedly unhappy with the officials’ decision during the game. He and his staff protested Vinicius Jr‘s sending off, but the referee went on to send the Brazilian off.

With their victory against Villarreal, Real Madrid now sit third in the LaLiga table behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. They have collected 18 points in eight games so far and trail Barcelona by six points and Atletico Madrid by one point

Vinicius has endured a tricky campaign thus far, scoring just once and producing three assists in nine games across competitions. Now, he faces the risk of suspension following his red card.

Vinicius Jr at risk of missing El Clasico against Barcelona after red card in Real Madrid’s win over Villarreal

Real Madrid suffered a major blow despite their 1-0 win against Villarreal in the LaLiga on Saturday, October 10. Their star winger Vinicius Jr. was sent off for pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair and could now miss the much-anticipated El Clasico on October 25.

Vinicius Jr was named on the bench and came on in the 52nd minute, replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold. He found the back of the net in the 71st minute but the goal was ruled out after a VAR review.

The review showed the Brazilian pulling Villarreal midfielder Nathan Saliba’s hair and he was shown a straight red card. The Real Madrid superstar is now set to face a minimum of a two-match suspension, meaning he would miss the Barcelona game.

The Brazilian might even receive a stronger punishment for his antics after the red card. The referee stated in his match report that he displayed aggressive behaviour and had to be restrained by his teammates.
