Crystal Palace are willing to sanction Ismaila Sarr’s departure for the right price this summer, with Manchester United recently opening talks.
Man United have set out to sign a new winger, and they have set their sights on two players who flourished at the World Cup. Contact has already been made to sign West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville, who picked up two goals and two assists in four games for the Netherlands.
Ronald Koeman’s side bowed out against Morocco on penalties, whereas Senegal were eliminated as a result of a 3-2 defeat against Belgium, despite racing into a 2-0 lead, with Sarr bagging the second goal just after half-time.

Credibility |
Since last summer, Man United have prioritised signing proven Premier League forwards, bringing in the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Sarr is of a similar ilk, having become one of Palace’s most important players over the past two seasons. |
|
Finances |
Should the Eagles decide to cash-in this summer, they would be looking to receive at least £45m, which is three times more than they shelled out to sign him from Marseille in 2024. Of course, for a club of Man United’s size, that is affordable, but it would be a lot to pay for a player who is set to turn 29 next season. |
|
Insight |
Sarr has been lauded as “incredible” by Man United reporter Tyrone Marshall, and scored a whopping 21 goals for the Eagles in all competitions last season. |
|
Impact |
The Senegal international is capable of playing on both wings and through the middle, meaning he could push for Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha’s starting spots, or even deputise for Benjamin Sesko. |
Man Utd open talks to sign Sarr as Summerville alternative
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Man United have now opened talks regarding a deal for Sarr, and he may have overtaken Summerville on their shortlist, given the way in which he has performed at the World Cup.
Even prior to the tournament, United were keen on signing the Palace star, but he is now even higher in their thinking, and chiefs are particularly fond of his ability to play at striker.
Summerville should remain Man Utd’s number one target
There is no denying the 87-cap Senegal international could make a major impact at Old Trafford, having impressed at the World Cup, scoring four goals in as many games, while also bagging 33 goals and ten assists in 92 matches for Crystal Palace.
That said, the Saint-Louis-born forward remains under contract until 2029, meaning Palace remain in a strong negotiating position, and he is in his late twenties, which means it may not be prudent to shell out more than £45m.
Summerville, on the other hand, is just 24, and performed well in a very poor West Ham side last season, picking up seven goals and five assists in 34 matches across all competitions.
The Dutchman also proved he has what it takes to perform on the biggest stage, perhaps most impressively registering a goal and an assist in the Netherlands’ 5-1 rout of Sweden, so he should be United’s top winger target this summer.
