Mercedes Mone has faced several rising professional wrestlers this year. She has helped elevate these stars to the next level in the professional wrestling industry. Similarly, she squared off with another such rising star who made a huge impact with her performance and story in All Elite Wrestling.
The star is none other than Maya World, who recently got some words of appreciation from veteran Jeff Jarrett. World faced Mercedes Mone in the finals of the Women’s Owen Hart Cup at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. She went on to take Mone to her limits in an epic showdown that was heavily enjoyed by the fans. While she failed to pick up the win, the 23-year-old proved that she belongs in AEW.
Speaking on My World With Jeff Jarrett, the veteran highlighted how Maya World was not even signed with AEW six months ago. However, with her determination and performance, she has now faced names like Mercedes Mone and Athena at such big stages. Jarrett added that World achieved all these high-profile moments while dealing with the tragic passing of her brother. Therefore, the former WWE star gave applause to the 23-year-old.
“Buddy, I don’t know that answer. I know that less than six months ago, she was not even on the full-time roster. And so, I mean, you really have to process all this. Athena is her trainer. She beat Athena in the Owen. Her brother just recently passed away tragically. She grew up idolizing, and the reason she wanted to get into the business was because of Mercedes Mone. This ain’t no fabricated storyline. It really happened. In six months, she signed, and in one of three main events. And, I just, I was, I applaud that young lady in so many different ways,” said Jarrett.
