Charlotte Flair is pushing forward in the Women’s Division on WWE SmackDown at present, but it seems that she has been handed a major blow ahead of next week’s show.
It was revealed earlier today that Flair’s close friend Scarlett Guillen had passed away at the age of 8. She and Flair had developed a close bond over the past few years, with Scarlett even designing The Queen’s gear for Survivor Series last year.
Thanks for the submission!
Scarlett was struggling with Diffuse Midline Glioma, something she was diagnosed with in January 2024. DMG is an aggressive form of brain cancer that affects the brainstem.
Charlotte Flair and Scarlett became close back in 2024 following her diagnosis, and their bond went beyond their meetings on-screen, with Flair being seen with Scarlett outside of the company as well.
Scarlett’s family shared the news on her GoFundMe Page, where they shared the following statement:
“Our hearts are shattered beyond words. After an incredibly courageous battle with DMG, our beautiful daughter Scarlett has gained her angel wings. She was only eight years old, yet she touched more lives than many people do in a lifetime. Scarlett was the light of every room she entered. She had the funniest personality, a contagious laugh, and a smile that could brighten even the darkest days. She was strong, determined, silly, and full of love. She had a way of making everyone around her laugh. Being Scarlett’s parents has been the greatest honor of our lives. Every moment with her was a gift. Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is in heaven running around making new friends and back on the softball field.”
It will come as a massive blow to The Queen, since Scarlett and her family had become close to Flair, and she had been doing everything she could to raise awareness of Scarlett’s illness as well as allowing her to be part of her WWE persona.
Charlotte Flair is expected to share a tribute of her own
As of writing, Charlotte Flair hasn’t reacted to the news, but she is also expected to share a tribute to her friend online and could even wear the gear that Scarlett made for her at the upcoming SmackDown.
The Queen recently celebrated July 4th with several other WWE stars, which meant that last week’s SmackDown was pre-recorded, but it will be live once again next week as the company pushes towards Saturday Night’s Main Event.
