“See what we can do” – Martin Odegaard sends message to England ahead of Norway’s FIFA World Cup quarterfinals

Norway captain Martin Odegaard has warned England that they cannot underestimate their opponents at the FIFA World Cup. He pointed to their result over Brazil in the Round of 16 as a prime example.

Speaking to the media ahead of the FIFA World Cup clash, Odegaard said that Norway went into the match against Brazil as the underdogs and came out victorious. He believes that the same can happen against England as well and said:

“I think Brazil (in the last 16) was the same, we were the underdogs and, as you ‌saw, anything can happen in football. We’re going to give it a good try, see what we can do and (are) looking forward to it. We have to have the belief in ourselves. We’ve shown the whole world that we’re a good team. In football, anything is possible. Even though we’re the underdogs again, let’s see ‌what happens and let’s prepare well.” (via Tribal Football)

Odegaard has warned his teammates that they cannot take Declan Rice lightly, saying that the England star gives it his all ven when he is not fully fit.

“He’s someone who always gives absolutely everything for the team, always fighting for every single ball, bringing his energy to the pitch, to the team, driving the team forward. He can do so many things on the pitch.”

“He can defend, he can attack, he can be ‌physical, he can be good on the ball. He’s a very complete player, so it’s going to be a good test for all of us. And it’s not just about Declan, but the whole team has unbelievable players. It’s a massive test and we’re looking forward to it. Hopefully we can make even more history.”

England could be without four players for Norway clash at FIFA World Cup

Jordan Henderson has been ruled out of the tournament after he broke his arm during the post-match celebration last week. The England defender fell over the advertising board after the 3-2 win over Mexico.

Declan Rice and Marc Guehi missed training this week and are now doubtful for the upcoming match. The Arsenal star is dealing with a hamstring issue, while the defender has minor muscle fatigue.

Chelsea star Reece James is also set to miss out despite making a good recovery and rejoining training this week.
