WNBA scoring machine lands on the wrong side of history

The WNBA revealed its reserves for the 2026 All-Star Game, with some names glaringly missing from the list, perhaps none more glaring than Toronto Tempo scoring machine Brittney Sykes.

The 32-year-old guard was having the best year of her career in the WNBA until suffering an injury during a game in June against the Indiana Fever. Sykes hasn’t seen action since, but in the 15 games she’s played, the former Syracuse Orange star put up an average of 20.1 points.

Yet, Sykes failed to even get a nod as an All-Star reserve.

This marks the first time in WNBA history that a player who ranked among the league’s top three scorers through 15 games was not selected as an All-Star.

That was duly noted by the Tempo, who showed their support for Sykes following the release of the WNBA All-Star reserve names.
