Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf has named his favorites to win the Premier League in the 2026/27 season.
Arsenal finally got the monkey off their back with their first title in 22 years after Mikel Arteta’s men lifted the Premier League trophy at the end of last season. They came close to winning their maiden UEFA Champions League as well, but were denied by Paris Saint-Germain in the final via penalty shootout.
Thanks for the submission!
Former Chelsea man Leboeuf believes Arsenal are the overwhelming favorites to win the Premier League title again this season, regardless of what further signings they make this summer. He added that despite the doubts over multiple players’ fitness, they know for a fact that they can be better than any team on their day. Speaking to ESPN, he said (via Metro UK):
“Arsenal have some assurances and they know that with the team they have right now they can be better anybody else. We don’t know what Bruno Guimaraes can bring, whether he will play alongside Declan Rice or not or what is going to be Mikel Arteta’s decision.
“When you have Gabriel Magalhaes and Saliba you are strong, you know that you are stronger than anybody else and that’s what it is. If I was an Arsenal fan then I wouldn’t be worried. Can they now double up and win the Premier League? Yes, they are the favourites for me, but they will have to show it.”
The Gunners have strengthened their squad in a bid to go back-to-back by adding Bruno Guimaraes, who joined the club from Newcastle for a £75m fee. They have also added Greek winger Christos Tzolis to their ranks and free-agent goalkeeper Ilian Meslier. It’s safe to say the Gunners are not playing around in the 2026/27 summer transfer window.
What next for Premier League champions Arsenal in the transfer window?
It doesn’t look like the Premier League champions are done in the summer window either, as they were reportedly ready to pay a big fee to sign Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. Unfortunately for the Gunners, that deal fell apart, but it shows that they have the monetary power to go big again this summer.
They are looking to sign another attacker to supplement their squad and have reportedly identified Juventus star Kenan Yildiz as a potential target. There are also rumors suggesting the Gunners are interested in a move for Bradley Barcola, who is linked with a move to PL rivals Liverpool.
