Meanwhile, Eala suffered an early exit in Toronto, and is now gearing up for the Cincinnati Open.
Thanks for the submission!

Gauff and Eala are undoubtedly two of the biggest women’s singles stars on the WTA Tour at the moment. While the two players are rivals on court, they share a friendly bond amongst each other away from tennis.
Alex Eala and Coco Gauff heap praise on each other

Earlier this year, Coco Gauff and Alex Eala competed against each other at the Indian Wells Open. The Filipino phenom was leading the battle 6-2, 2-0 when Gauff was forced to retire from the encounter due to a forearm injury.
After the match, Eala heaped praise on Gauff for being an ‘amazing competitor and role model’, saying in her on-court interview,
“I want to say thank you to all the incredible women who have paved the way and who have advocated for themselves and for other women. Among them is Coco. So thank you Coco for being an amazing competitor and amazing role model.”
Meanwhile, Gauff recently returned the favour during the Canadian Open. Speaking about Eala’s success and stardom during a press conference, the American said,
“I think what she’s doing for the sport of tennis is great. I think she’s a great role model for people to look up to. I said it the last time: What you guys see on camera is who she is off court. That’s something I really respect when someone is who they are at all times. I’m always going to be supporting her, and it was great to see her win in DC.”
Up next, Coco Gauff will return to action on Wednesday, August 12 for her semifinals encounter at the Canadian Open. Meanwhile, Alex Eala is now gearing up for the Cincinnati Open.
