Did Ravens’ Rashod Bateman, Ronnie Stanley take veiled shots at Giants’ John Harbaugh?

    Shortly after Baltimore Ravens
owner Steve Bisciotti shockingly fired head coach John Harbaugh this past January, a report claimed that Harbaugh lost quarterback Lamar Jackson and other members of the Ravens locker room.

Jackson is seemingly getting along quite well with first-year Ravens head coach Jesse Minter and first-year offensive coordinator Declan Doyle. Meanwhile, veteran Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman and offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley may have taken some shots at Harbaugh while speaking about Minter on Thursday.

Jesse Minter is better than what the Ravens had in the past?

“From head coach to [offensive coordinator] to receivers coach, everybody really harps on the details and the small things,” Bateman said, as shared by Matt Ehalt of the New York Post. “That’s just not what we were in our past.”

This isn’t the first time that Harbaugh’s former players have made it known they’re quite happy with the change in leadership. Earlier this spring, Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers said that he felt the contact practices run by Harbaugh were why the Ravens “had a lot of injuries” from 2023 through the 2025 season.

Meanwhile, Bateman noted on Thursday that he could “definitely benefit” from playing under Minter.

“Wherever these coaches and staff put me,” he explained, “I think this team is bound for success.”

One other way Jesse Minter differs from John Harbaugh

When asked about the differences between the current coaching staff and the previous one, Stanley said that Minter “just values details and the finer details a little bit more.”

“I think that is something that is very much harped on, and he is also a very positive overall guy,” Stanley continued while speaking about Minter, per Kyle J. Andrews of Sports Illustrated. “He realizes we are chasing perfection, but that is something that is going to come with a lot of bad plays [and] bad days, and he is aware of that. He is always trying to keep a positive outlook on what we are trying to build, while, at the same time, keeping a high standard.”

New York Giants players seem to be thrilled to have Harbaugh as their head coach this summer. For those wondering, the Giants and Ravens would only play each other this season if the two clubs complete trips to the Super Bowl.
