Josh Allen and most Buffalo Bills starters will sit out Saturday’s preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, with Kyle Allen expected to start at quarterback.
NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe stated that Buffalo’s starters received extended work in the preseason opener and a productive joint practice. This allows the team to focus on evaluating its depth.
Thanks for the submission!
“Josh Allen & most Bills starters will sit today vs. Browns, per source. A few young starters may play. It’ll be Kyle Allen starting at QB for Bills today in preseason game 2. Bills got good work out of starters in joint practice & preseason opener. Eval mainly on depth today,” Wolfe tweeted on Saturday.

Fans reacted to the tweet, happy with the decision to avoid injury risk.
“Great call, put them all in bubble wrap before Week 1,” a fan commented.
“We shouldn’t see them again until week 1,” another fan wrote.
“Thank god. Way too many injuries already…,” a user said.
“Good decision by coach Brady,” another user commented.
“I know teams have there reasons for playing starters but the risk really isn’t worth it for any player that’s been in the league a few years. Just getting to the playoffs healthy is a major challenge for teams each year,” a fan wrote.
Some fans, however, complained about the value of preseason games when major starters do not play.
“Just cancel the preseason and have joint practices. Teams charging fans regular prices to attend meaningless games to watch players that won’t make the team is a waste of time and money,” a fan said.

Josh Allen Takes Responsibility for Bills’ Sack Problem
After the Buffalo Bills’ joint practice with the Cleveland Browns, Josh Allen addressed the increase in sacks he took during the 2025 season.
Allen was asked about the issue by reporters following the practice and acknowledged that the responsibility was not solely on Buffalo’s offensive line.
“Decision-making is one, understanding protections is two, throwing the ball away three. I do believe that’s a quarterback stat,” Allen said. “Understanding what’s going on is the main thing and, two, not making a bad play worse.”
Allen was sacked 40 times for 298 yards, both career highs, compared with just 14 sacks in 2024.
