Everton are reportedly interested in signing Burnley forward Zian Flemming, as per Football Insider.
The 28-year-old initially moved to Turf Moor from Millwall on loan in 2024 before the deal became permanent the following year. During his debut campaign with the Clarets, he helped his side gain promotion, making 16 goal contributions across all competitions.
Although the Dutchman failed to help Burnley avoid relegation last campaign, he showed glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League, scoring 11 goals.
Flemming has enjoyed a promising start to this season, scoring three goals in two matches in two different competitions. Now, Football Insider report that Burnley are expecting offers for the striker before the end of this window.
Everton have been planning to sign a new striker throughout this summer but haven’t been able to buy anyone yet. They are interested in Flemming and could make a formal approach soon.
However, the Merseyside club will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal as LOSC Lille are very strongly interested in the Burnley star.
Ideally, the Clarets don’t want to lose him, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep hold of him amid growing interest. But they are planning to hike the price late in this window, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
Flemming to Everton
Flemming is a 6ft tall right-footed striker. He is quick, strong, good in the air, possesses poacher’s instinct inside the box, and works extremely hard without possession.
Everton currently have Thierno Barry and Beto as striker options. Following average performances during his debut campaign, Barry has enjoyed a bright start this season.
On the other hand, Beto has entered the final year of his current contract, so his long-term future isn’t secured at the Hill Dickinson Stadium at the moment.
Therefore, as a potential replacement for Beto, Everton are seemingly looking for a new forward. Flemming is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career.
Moreover, he has shown his goal-scoring prowess in recent times. So, Flemming might be a shrewd acquisition for Everton should they eventually manage to secure his services this summer.
