Odell Beckham Jr.
returned to the New York Giants this spring in the hopes of making the roster and recapturing the magic he had earlier in his career when he was at his peak and one of the best wide receivers in football.
It remains to be seen if he will make the team’s final 53-man roster by the end of this weekend, but head coach John Harbaugh certainly gave a glowing review of his training camp and preseason performance following Saturday night’s game.

Beckham caught three passes for 53 yards in a 23-6 win over the New York Jets on Saturday night, a performance that prompted Harbaugh to say he has done enough to make an NFL roster this season.
“Yes, he has done enough to make an NFL roster, for sure,” Harbaugh said. “He’s played well. He’s gotten better as camp’s gone along. He deserves credit for that. He’s done a really good job with it.”
Now, that is a very interesting answer and an interesting way of wording it.
He did not specifically say Beckham Jr. has done enough to make the “Giants” roster, but to make “an” NFL roster.
That word choice is doing a lot of heavy lifting, and may not necessarily mean that Beckham has a spot locked down with the Giants.
Or maybe it does if you’re not overanalyzing word choice. But NFL coaches tend to be very deliberate about what they say and how they say it.
Injuries have crushed a significant portion of Beckham’s career in the back half of it, and he has not appeared in an NFL game since the 2024 season when he caught nine passes in nine games for the Miami Dolphins.
He also previously played for Harbaugh as a member of the Baltimore Ravens during the 2023 season, so there is at least some history between them, which could be a benefit for Beckham in his quest to make the team. The Giants are desperate for more playmakers at wide receiver, and that became even more significant after free agent addition Calvin Austin suffered a season-ending injury in training camp.
The door is open. He has done enough. Now the Giants just have to put him on the roster.
