Atlanta Falcons fans began calling for undrafted rookie quarterback Jack Strand in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers. The team gave them what they wanted.
Trailing the Panthers 27-3 with 4:27 left in the third quarter, Strand replaced QB Cooper Rush, who had a day he’d rather forget.
Cooper Rush struggled in Week 2
Rush, a former Dallas Cowboys backup QB, got off to a terrible start against the Panthers. On the team’s first drive, he fumbled after scrambling nine yards to his right. (Safety Nick Scott recovered it.) Things would only get worse for the 32-year-old QB.
On the next drive, he threw an interception to linebacker Bobby Okereke on a pass intended for running back Bijan Robinson. He threw another in the third quarter to LB Devin Lloyd, who returned it for 53 yards.
