    Officially Confirmed: Will Ospreay AEW Grand Slam France Match

    Will Ospreay is the reigning AEW World Champion. His first title defence happened at All Out 2026 against the Death Riders’ leader, Jon Moxley, and he convincingly retained. He will defend his title again at Grand Slam France against a top star.

    At All Out’s media scrum, Ospreay was asked who is likely to be the next challenger for this gold. The Aerial Assassin had a clear answer. He wants AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada to challenge him for the World Title at Grand Slam France. The Rainmaker was right outside the room, and he instantly said ‘yes’ to the World Champion’s offer.

    All Elite Wrestling’s official Instagram handle shared the video of this exchange.

    “EXCLUSIVE: During the Post-#AEWAllOut Media Scrum, AEW World Champion @willospreay was asked who he believes is next in line to challenge for his championship. Ospreay had a very specific person in mind … who just happened to be right outside the room: @rainmakerxokada,” read the post’s caption.

    Okada and Ospreay have a history from their time in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Their upcoming showdown has the potential to be one of the best wrestling matches of the year.

    AEW Grand Slam France will take place at Adidas Arena on Tuesday, October 6th.

    AEW star Will Ospreay said that he was never a WWE fan

    In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Will Ospreay revealed that he was never a WWE fan. He said that he liked WCW, ECW, TNA, and Pro Wrestling NOAH while growing up and never felt the urge to watch World Wrestling Entertainment.

    “I feel like I got into it just as WCW and ECW were about to be bought out. My dad bought ECW tapes; I used to watch it, but I was like forbidden. ECW was sick. After that, [WWE] just wasn’t for me. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the presentation behind it. I still have those feelings now. I found TNA, and that was a style that spoke to me. The X-Division was huge for me. Then, finding Pro Wrestling NOAH, Dragon Gate, and New Japan were the things that inspired me and made me want to be a pro wrestler.
