India registered a 14-run victory over West Indies in the third T20I at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on October 11, 2026. After posting 223 runs, the hosts held their nerve to restrict the visitors to 209, taking a crucial lead through disciplined bowling in the closing overs.
Arshdeep Singh played a key role in the defence, finishing with three wickets. His dismissal of Sherfane Rutherford in the 18th over proved particularly important, as the left-arm pacer produced a superb yorker to leave West Indies’ chase on the brink of collapse.
Arshdeep Singh removes Sherfane Rutherford with a pinpoint yorker
Rutherford had kept West Indies in the contest with an aggressive knock of 32 off 20 deliveries, including two fours and two sixes. With the visitors needing a late surge to chase down India’s total, his wicket gave the hosts a breakthrough. Arshdeep delivered a pinpoint yorker that tailed into the batter and sneaked past his inside edge before crashing into the middle stump.
Rutherford attempted to swing across the line but was beaten by the accuracy and movement of the delivery. The Indian players erupted in celebration, knowing that the dismissal had dealt a huge blow to West Indies’ hopes. Arshdeep’s execution under pressure once again highlighted his value as a death-overs specialist.

Abhishek Sharma’s fifty and India’s bowling seal the win
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma provided the foundation for India’s total with a blistering 69 off just 30 balls. Ishan Kishan added 37 from 18 deliveries as India raced to 87/1 in the powerplay. However, Roston Chase’s two wickets in an over triggered a middle-order slowdown, and India eventually finished with 223 runs. West Indies struggled to maintain the required scoring rate despite contributions from Shimron Hetmyer, who scored 43, and Rutherford.
Arshdeep struck early to dismiss captain Shai Hope before India’s spinners applied pressure in the middle overs. Naman Dhir and Axar Patel also played important roles in breaking partnerships, while the Indian quicks used accurate yorkers to close out the contest. Arshdeep finished with figures of 3/44 as India successfully defended their total by 14 runs. The victory marked an important breakthrough for India, who had finally defended a total on the home tour after several unsuccessful attempts.
