College football rankings: AP Top 25 poll results ahead of Week 7

Another weekend of college football has wrapped up, and that means it’s time to see where these teams stand in the AP Top 25 poll, which is the holy grail of college football.

This past weekend of college football had quite a few upsets, including the mighty Alabama, LSU and Oregon among the teams falling in unexpected losses. LSU fell 12 full spots after its loss to the Wildcats.

The No. 1 team heading into Week 7, according to the poll, is the Georgia Bulldogs. They went up just one spot to get that honor. Georgia’s game against Alabama wasn’t an easy win, but it really showed that this team is built on more than flash and a big name.

The Bulldogs simply played consistent football, and that helped them pull off a solid 20-17 win. Alabama was favored by 1.5 points going into the game, so this was a small upset, too. Kirby Smart and company played strong football, and now they’re sitting at No. 1. How long this will last is a question because the top team has changed almost every week.

Notre Dame is No. 2 in the poll following its decisive win over Stanford. It made it to the top of ESPN’s rankings this week, however, so ESPN’s model puts it a touch above the AP’s poll.
