In the 8th match of the Women’s Premier League 2023, UP Warriorz defeated Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore Women by 10 wickets, continuing RCB-W’s disappointing performance this season. Despite Ellyse Perry’s impressive 52 runs knock, RCB-W could only manage to score 138 runs in their innings and were all out in just 19.3 overs.
Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma led UP Warriorz’s bowling attack with 4 and 3 wickets, respectively, while RCB-W’s skipper Smriti Mandhana failed to perform once again with just 4 runs to her name.

“In the last four games, it’s been happening. We start well and then lose a cluster of wickets. I take the blame as well. Need to get runs on the board for the bowlers to defend. Overs 7-15 we spoke about getting 7-8 per over. Didn’t work out today.”
“We’re trying to get a balanced team. Let’s see how it goes. I’ve tried to speak to all the players about it. We’ll have to keep doing it. Last one week has been really tough on the team. Lots to reflect, lots to work on,” she said.
Smriti Mandhana and her side have now lost four consecutive games to all the sides in the tournament and another loss is likely to knock them out of the tournament.
