Conservative podcaster Matt Walsh shared his views on alcohol consumption while reacting to Steven Bartlett’s perspective on the subject. Over the weekend, an old clip from The Diary of a CEO podcast went viral in which Steven Bartlett shared his experience with alcohol. In his conversation with YouTuber Chris Williamson, Bartlett shared that after quitting alcohol for a year, he tried it again as an experiment.
The entrepreneur said that he had a couple of glasses of wine, which “ruined” three days of his life because of a domino effect. Steven Bartlett claimed that the wine disrupted his sleep and digestion, which caused him to podcast “poorly” the following day. He added that he was keeping track of all the vitals on his fitness tracker. The investor said that he realized that several glasses of wine could have a hidden domino effect.
On May 23, an X user shared the clip from Bartlett’s December 2025 podcast, which garnered over 17 million views. Matt Walsh reacted to the clip on May 24 and posted:
“The anti-alcohol stuff has become totally hysterical. It’s the worst and the gayest of the 90s anti-smoking propaganda all over again. Give up alcohol if you want but the stuff isn’t battery acid. A sip won’t send you to the hospital. A glass of wine ruined three days of your life? When did it become normal and acceptable for men to brag about their weak constitutions? Really weird.”
Walsh further took a dig at Bartlett and added a comment on his own X post, saying:
“I drank two glasses of wine and then podcasted worse” might be the most pathetic sentence ever uttered by a male of the human species.”
Walsh’s comment drew a reaction from journalist Tracy Beanz, who took a jibe, saying, “We are going to outlive you.” In response, the Daily Wire host said that he didn’t care, as he has six kids who would keep his “bloodline” alive.
“I could die tomorrow and I still win. The “health optimizers” only care about extending their own lives by every minute possible. They don’t think about bloodline and legacy. That’s the kind of longevity that matters,” Matt Walsh added.
Matt Walsh takes aim at people being overly conscious of health monitoring
Matt Walsh shared another post on Sunday, taking a swipe at people who are too focused on their vitals. He remarked that the “health consciousness stuff” has gone “massively overboard.”
“People walking around with bands tracking their vital signs every second of the day like they’re astronauts on the ISS. Treating alcohol or sugar like it’ll kill them if they look at it. Tracking their sleep. Counting their steps. It’s possible to live a healthy life without being an obsessive, paranoid lunatic,” he added.
Matt Walsh remarked that everyone would die after a few decades, “if not sooner.” The podcaster advised people to “relax a little and live your life.”
This was not the first time Walsh shared his take on alcohol consumption. In March 2024, Walsh posted several tweets objecting to marijuana use. While debating the issue in posts on X, Matt Walsh, in one of his tweets, said that “casual consumption” of alcohol and tobacco “is not nearly as harmful.” He argued that the two have remained a part of American culture.
