Kevin Pietersen, who was part of the commentary panel for the match, was frustrated by KL Rahul’s lack of aggression with the bat. The former England skipper said that it was boring to watch Rahul’s batting in the first six overs.
“Watching KL Rahul bat in powerplays is the most boring thing I have ever been through,” Kevin Pietersen said.

Rahul has come under fire for his low strike rate in the cash-rich league despite scoring close to 600 runs in the last five seasons. The Karnataka-born cricketer played a maiden over against Trent Boult in the first over of the match.
The LSG opener played six matches in the IPL 2023 and scored 194 runs with a dismal strike rate of 114.79. He scored 18 runs off 20 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-scoring run chase. He scored 74 runs off 56 balls with a strike rate of 132.14 against the Punjab Kings.
Following the win, the Lucknow-based franchise moved into second place in the 10-team points table. Both Lucknow and the Royals have the same points, but the Sanju Samson-led team has a better NRR.
KL Rahul will be next seen in action in the match when Lucknow Super Giants take on Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, April 20.
