Firmino says Liverpool spell is honour of his life as footage of farewell party emerges

Liverpool fan favourite Roberto Firmino has labelled his time at Anfield as the honour of his life during his farewell speech.

The 31-year-old, who was signed by Brendan Rodgers, joined the Reds from Hoffenheim in 2015 and has become a certified club legend.

Firmino went on to play a starring role for Jurgen Klopp‘s side, netting 111 goals in 362 appearances, and winning every trophy possible on Merseyside, including the Premier League and Champions League.

The Brazil international was given a huge send off by supporters at Anfield, following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last month.

He has since released a video of his leaving party, which was held at Anfield, lauding his teammates for the memorable time he has had at the club.

“Eight years of Liverpool are coming to an end for my family and me in a few days,” Firmino said on stage in front of his teammates and family.

“Naturally, I already knew about Liverpool FC when I arrived here from Germany eight years ago. And yet, I had no idea… I had no idea how much passion that is in the club. And what a huge, huge part this club plays in the lives of so many people around the world.

“I didn’t know how positively crazy and how passionate the people who work at this club are, and how much this club and this stadium means to them.

“And the truth, the truth is I never could have dreamed that it was possible to achieve what we achieved together. It has been the honour of my life so far to have been a part of this Liverpool family. You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

Firmino was visibly emotional during his speech and was later joined on stage by his teammates, with captain Jordan Henderson presenting him with a shirt.

The Brazil ace is now set for a switch elsewhere, with Real Madrid a possible destination, amid Karim Benzema being set to leave Los Blancos.
