Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle cleared customs with his second home run against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
The five-year MLB vet blasted a solo shot 443 feet off Jays pitcher Bowden Francis in the top of the fifth inning as Baltimore easily won the second game of a four-game series with its AL East rival, 10-1.
Per Baseball Savant, Mountcastle’s long bomb had an exit velocity of 108.1 mph and was his hardest-hit home run since April 28 and his longest of the season.
Mountcastle also hit a three-run blast in the top of the third inning and finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate.
This season, he has 10 home runs with .286/.325/.512 batting splits. Mountcastle has been on a tear since May 21. In his last 13 games, he’s hitting .385 (20-for-52) with four home runs.
The Orioles (39-20) trail the first-place Yankees (43-19) in the AL East. They’ve won eight of their last 10, including the first two in their current series against the Blue Jays (28-32).
Toronto is scheduled to start Jose Berrios on Wednesday. Per Stathead, Mountcastle only has two career hits in 19 at-bats against Berrios, but both were home runs.
