Fraser-McGurk’s dismissal on the first ball meant Delhi Capitals could bring in Karun Nair as an impact player. Nair seized the opportunity and really went after the Mumbai bowlers, even taking Jasprit Bumrah to task. He blasted 18 runs off Bumrah’s second over with two stunning sixes and reached his half-century in just 22 balls, helping DC to 72 runs in the powerplay.
Nair kept up the attack after the powerplay but fell short of a century, getting bowled by Mitchell Santner for 89 off just 40 balls. This was his first IPL fifty in seven years, and he had been in great form in domestic cricket leading up to this season.
On the Mumbai side, Tilak Varma also made a half-century, contributing to a solid total of 205 runs. He now has two consecutive fifties in IPL 2025. MI vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav (40 off 28), wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton (41 off 25), and young player Naman Dhir (38 off 17) all played important roles in boosting the score. For Delhi Capitals, spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam each picked up two wickets.
