The all-important draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be confirmed this week, followed by the match schedule.
The 48 tournament entrants – 42 confirmed nations plus six playoff qualifiers to be determined in March – will be divided into four groups of 12 teams for the group stage.
Those group stage games will be played from June 12 to June 28, 2026 (all times and dates AEDT), with Mexico to open the tournament at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca against a Group A opponent.

The knockout stage begins with the round of 32 from June 29, all leading up to the World Cup final on July 20 at New York/New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.
The group stage draw takes place from Washington DC on Saturday December 6 from 4am AEDT.
The full match schedule will not be confirmed during the draw, but instead announced one day later on a special reveal show, on Sunday December 7 from 4am AEDT.

Below, we list the World Cup pots and World Cup schedule for both the group stage and knockout stage. As it stands groups have been assigned to specific stadiums, but the games themselves will be confirmed on December 7.
We also list the locations for each World Cup group’s games and who the winners, runner-ups and potential best third-placers will face in the knockout stage based on their group assignments.
