“Is this not Michael Jordan’s Son?” –  Fans Erupt Over Anthony Edwards’ NFL Ambition Tied to Winning an NBA Title

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has achieved a lot of success in his young NBA career. Edwards has led the Wolves to the Western Conference finals twice. However, he has come up short in both instances and has struggled to lead them to the NBA Finals.

Winning the NBA championship is still one of Edwards’ biggest dreams. On YouTube, the star started a new series called “The Album.” On Thursday, he posted the first episode, “All Star Mini Movie,” and showed fans a look at his time during the 2026 All-Star Weekend.

He stated throughout the show that he wants to win a title before turning 30. He’s planning on winning in the NBA because he wants to try his hand at the NFL.

“Especially if I get one while I’m still young. I get one before I turn 30, I’m definitely going to try and play football,” Edwards said.

“I might try to go quarterback, probably backup quarterback. I ain’t really got to play unless my starter get hurt.”

After seeing what Edwards has planned for his career, most fans online took time to discuss it. Some fans couldn’t help but compare him to Michael Jordan. The former Chicago Bulls star retired from the NBA in 1995 and joined the Chicago White Sox in Minor League Baseball.

“I’m being serious, is this not Mike’s son?” a fan said.

“Lowkey Anthony Edwards is trying to act like Micheal Jordan,” another fan commented.

“He’s definitely going to pull a MJ ‘I’m back’ after winning a Super Bowl,” one fan said.

Other fans had jokes about Edwards’ plans.

“Anthony Edwards is the only human on earth who treats an NBA championship like a prerequisite for a career change,” someone commented.

“Crazy thing is he can actually do it 🤯” a comment read.

“nah he might actually be srs didn’t he say this before thought he was joking,” one fan commented.

Anthony Edwards has discussed a potential career in football in the past

This isn’t the first time that Anthony Edwards expressed his interest in playing football professionally. In a 2023 episode of comedian Marco Summers’ show “Open Thoughts,” the topic of playing football and hoops professionally was discussed.

Edwards was asked if there has ever been a player to play in the NBA and the NFL. The Wolves star said this:

“I think I might be the first one.”

But he told Summers that winning an NBA championship with the Timberwolves is his priority. Edwards stated that before attempting anything else, he must “handle his business” in the league.

Edwards began playing football as a running back when he first became interested in sports. He eventually gave up playing basketball.
