SmackDown Title Match Announcement Proves How Far WWE Has Fallen; Triple H, Do Better!

WWE recently announced a Women’s United States Championship match between Giulia and Tiffany Stratton for the episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania 42. The bout was initially planned for The Show of Shows, but has now been scrapped from the card officially.

While it is a big boost for the go-home edition of SmackDown, it also shows how far WWE has fallen with its booking decisions. Chief Content Officer Triple H and the creative team have dropped the ball with the feud, which could have made it to the premium live event easily.

There has been no prominent build-up to the title match

Stratton and Giulia were crossing paths on SmackDown, and it seemed clear that a title match would likely happen between them at some point. However, things never materialized as well as expected, and several segments were not included in the final show despite it having a three-hour runtime.

The storyline never received much attention from the fans, and it seems like a hasty decision to book the title match on such short notice.

Tiffany Stratton lost to Giulia, but is still getting a title shot

Tiffany Stratton lost to the Women’s United States Champion on the March 27 episode of WWE SmackDown. But she is still getting a title shot despite it.

The Buff Barbie was booked strongly after her return, finishing as the runner-up in both the Women’s Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches. However, she just hasn’t been the same since losing the Chamber, and challenging for the US Title feels like a demotion of sorts.

With little backstory for the feud, it seems like no thought has been put into the feud, despite it having the potential for much more.

The match was initially planned for WWE WrestleMania 42, but fell off completely

Tiffany Stratton featured prominently on promotional material for WrestleMania 42, but doesn’t have a match at all. She walked out of WrestleMania 41 with the WWE Women’s Championship after defeating Charlotte Flair last year, but hasn’t even made it to the card this time around.

The initial plan was reportedly for Stratton, Giulia, and Jordynne Grace to battle for the United States Championship in a Triple Threat Match. It would have showcased the title well and helped it regain some much-needed credibility. However, it has now been relegated to an afterthought by Triple H and the creative team, and they have to build it back from the ground up.
