“His strike rate and batting are not such that he’ll win you games” – Virender Sehwag’s massive take on IPL legend ahead of KKR vs RR match

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag remarked that veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja cannot be the match-winner with the bat for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) if the top-order fails. The Riyan Parag-led side had faced an early collapse during the recent loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where the southpaw had to come into bat in just the second over of the innings.

On that occasion, Jadeja had scored 45 runs off 32 deliveries, but could not prevent RR’s massive 57-run loss. Prior to that, he had chipped in with a patient and unbeaten 24-ball 25 during the win over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Guwahati.

Virender Sehwag stated that RR are too reliant on their top-order, and they need someone to step up from the middle order to step up soon.

“From their team, only three players are scoring runs – Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel. None of the others are in form. Ravindra Jadeja is an experienced player, but his strike rate and batting is not such that he will win you games. So, someone has to step up, and raise their hand if the top order fails,” Virender Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

He mentioned that his knock against SRH does not count as it did not lead to a win for RR.

“Those were not match-winning runs. That was just a formality, score some runs here and there because the match was already gone,” he added.

RR will face the struggling Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) next in the league stage at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, April 19.

Ravindra Jadeja has a strike rate of 118.75 for RR in IPL 2026

The veteran had to play the anchor role towards the end in the successful run chase against RCB after the top-order had done the bulk of the work. In his other two outings, he scored a run-a-ball 7 in the high-scoring clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) away from home, followed by the 32-ball 45 against SRH.

Ravindra Jadeja’s career strike rate at No.6 and No.7 after a combined 125 innings, reads 131.65 and 124.27, respectively.
