Jan Jensen targets transfers to rebuild Iowa roster
Iowa coach Jan Jensen is aggressively working the transfer portal to address major roster turnover following an NCAA Tournament appearance. With five transferring and four graduating, the Hawkeyes are down to six players.
Jensen focused heavily on guards and scheduled multiple visits. Western Illinois transfer Raegan McCowan is expected in Iowa City early next week. She averaged 22.3 points per game as a sophomore and 17.0 ppg in 10 games last season before a season-ending elbow injury. McCowan also contributed 6.4 rebounds per game.
With two years of eligibility remaining, she offers immediate offensive production and flexibility as a starter or bench scorer.
Iowa will also host former Georgia guard Jocelyn Faison. She saw limited action as a freshman, averaging 1.3 ppg in 7.8 minutes. However, her potential remains notable. Faison’s athleticism and energy make her a “unique” prospect, according to a scouting report. She can handle the ball and contribute on both ends.
Iowa already added transfers Amari Whiting and Dani Carnegie but still has at least seven spots to fill.
