Man Utd could see £60m bid accepted to sign a striker who Bruno Fernandes loves

Manchester United are interested in signing AC Milan star Rafael Leao, who has received praise from Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes.

Despite making a name for himself on the wing, Leao has moved into a more central role this season, and he has regularly been amongst the goals for AC Milan.

Lauded as “extraordinary” by Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri, the 26-year-old has amassed a whopping 80 goals and 65 assists in 288 matches for the Italian side, and he has plenty of top-level experience, having made 30 Champions League appearances.

Benjamin Sesko, on the other hand, remains a little inexperienced, at 22-years-old, but the Slovenian has made a solid start to life in the Premier League, most recently finding the net in a 2-1 victory against Brentford.

With that in mind, there are perhaps some question marks about whether the Red Devils need to bring in a new striker, but they have now been told a £50m – £60m bid for Leao could be accepted.

That is according to a report from Football Insider, which states United have now registered an interest in signing the Portuguese winger, who still has two years remaining on his AC Milan contract.

Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke adds: “It won’t be a cheap deal to do. You’re probably looking around the £50 to 60 million mark for Leao, who’s got into the last two years of his contract at the San Siro.

“So look, Milan I think would be open to a potential move away from the winger if the right offer comes in for him. United are looking for that position, and I’m sure he’s one of a number of players that’s on that long list.”

What Bruno Fernandes has said about Rafael Leao

Signing the Milan star could appease Fernandes, given that the 31-year-old has sung his international teammate’s praises in the past, saying: “I met him as a kid at Sporting Lisbon, he came up to the first team with me. He is a boy with an enormous talent that we all hope will become stronger every time because we know how much talent he has.

“He has had his moments, but I still believe that he is a phenomenal player who can give us something more.”

A move to Old Trafford may also be an attractive proposition for Leao, with Man United set to be playing Champions League football next season.
