AEW legend Sting retired over two years ago at the Revolution 2024 pay-per-view. His magical run in the Jacksonville-based promotion is still being fondly remembered by many fans. He went undefeated throughout his AEW career. Tony Khan didn’t even book him to lose his last match. In his retirement match, he and Darby Allin put the AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line against the Young Bucks and retained. The duo vacated the titles following his final contest.
Following his retirement, the Vigitalante has made plenty of appearances on TV, mainly to support his former tag team partner, Darby Allin. His most recent appearance happened last week when he returned on TV to pay tribute to the late great Ted Turner. Apart from appearing on TV, the Icon also toured for his final meet-and-greet tour, which ended in December 2025.
Sting is set to make another blockbuster appearance. WrestleCon recently took to X and announced that the WWE Hall of Famer will appear at WrestleCon, held in Minneapolis on July 31st.
“Our first guest announcement for Minneapolis is the Icon Sting! His first appearance after retiring the war paint will be in Minnesota. He will be appearing exclusively on Friday July 31st from 4pm-8pm (Day 1),” WrestleCon announced.

Sting breaks the silence after Darby Allin’s AEW World Championship win
Darby Allin has been known as the underdog in the promotion for many years. Despite his popularity, he was never able to capture the AEW World Championship. However, things changed for the Relentless star a few weeks ago. At the post-Dynasty Dynamite, Darby defeated MJF for the world title, making it one of the most shocking moments in the promotion’s history. The Vigilante was present backstage for his win.
Following his win, the cameras followed the newly crowned AEW World Champion backstage. The Vigilante then claimed he knew Allin’s calibre a long time ago.
“I told him years ago that he is World Championship calibre and he proved it tonight. The rest is history. It’s not showtime, it’s Darby time. I’m proud of him like he’s my son, yeah,” he said.
It will be interesting to see when the WWE Hall of Famer will make his next appearance on AEW TV.
