    “Just keep the award at this point”: Jaxon Smith-Njigba rips NFL for massive mistake over his Offensive Player of the Year trophy

    Seattle Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba won the Offensive Player of the Year last season, en route to helping his team win the Super Bowl. However, the wideout wasn’t too pleased when the NFL made some errors while engraving his award.

    On his Instagram story on Monday, Smith-Njigba showed that the NFL mistakenly sent him the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year award. In a separate IG story, the Seahawks WR also responded to the error.

    “Just keep the award at this point. Leave it in the history books tho,” Smith-Njigba wrote on his IG story.

    Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was the Defensive Player of the Year last season.

    Smith-Njigba posted 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns on 119 receptions in the 2025 regular season. He also added 199 yards and two TDs on 17 receptions in the playoffs.

    Jaxon Smith-Njigba‘s Seahawks will face the New England Patriots in Week 1of the 2026 season. The game is scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET from Lumen Field in Seattle on Sept. 9.

    The Seahawks beat the Patriots 29-13 in the Super Bowl last season. While New England will be aiming to avenge its loss, Seattle will want to get off to a winning start in its bid to defend its crown.
