Buddy Matthews may be absent from AEW for quite some time, but the talented star has smashed fitness standards by once again showing off an impressive physique.
Buddy Matthews joined AEW in 2022, backed by a major reputation for being physically gifted and incredibly athletic in the ring. The Best Kept Secret, who came into his own as part of the House of Black, unfortunately suffered a serious leg injury during his Continental Title match against Kazuchika Okada at Grandslam: Australia in February 2025. The injury has kept him off TV until now, but the former AEW Trios Champion has been actively posting about his recovery and training on social media, often showcasing his impressive physique. He has now dropped another training video on Instagram, looking absolutely jacked.
In the video, Matthews is shown working on his back, and veins are visible popping out of his arms. The 37-year-old accompanied the video with a funny message, saying he trains not for fat loss or muscle growth but for his “hot” wife, WWE star Rhea Ripley.
“💪🏻 What are you training for?? #gym #gymmotivation #gymtok #workout #fitness,” Matthews wrote

Rhea Ripley says she can convince AEW star Buddy Matthews to return to WWE
Apart from being a dominant force in women’s wrestling, reigning WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is a supportive wife to her husband, Buddy Matthews, despite working for rival promotions. In a recent interview with Gery Roif, the Eradicator spoke about the possibility of convincing the AEW star to return to the Stamford-based promotion.
“Ohh, Maybe, maybe. I don’t know. So, I’m very convincing. I’m a very convincing girl, you know. I normally get what I want. So, it might happen, you never know. But right now I’m happy with my DomDom. I’m happy going out there with him and Finn and Damian and I mean, you never know what the future holds. It might happen,” she said.
Time will reveal whether Ripley can convince her husband to return to WWE. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Matthews will be ready to return to All Elite Wrestling sooner rather than later.
