Liverpool are assessing all options ahead of the summer transfer window and that includes Anthony Gordon. The Reds are long-term admirers and look set to reignite their interest in the Newcastle United star.
Liverpool plotting big-money move for attacker
One way or another, it looks like the focus will be on reigniting Liverpool’s frontline this summer. Mohamed Salah proved his quality one last time at Anfield before his farewell against Brentford and as Arne Slot sat back and watched from afar, even he would have been thinking about the impossible search for a replacement.
Nonetheless, it’s a search that the Reds have already commenced ahead of the summer transfer window, with names like Yan Diomande threatening to steal the headlines.
Anfield’s new Klopp: Premier League manager “hoping” to get the Liverpool job
Liverpool’s season is done and dusted, but there is still uncertainty regarding the future of head coach Arne Slot.
Those at Anfield are seriously interested in the RB Leipzig winger, but competition from Paris Saint-Germain could force them to look towards a familiar alternative.
According to TeamTalk, Liverpool could see a £75m offer accepted to sign Gordon from Newcastle this summer. The England international looks set to leave St James’ Park in the coming months and while interest from Bayern Munich is set to take centre stage, it’s no secret that he dreams of becoming an Anfield star.
Whether Newcastle are willing to enter negotiations with the Reds is another question, however. Their pursuit of Alexander Isak certainly didn’t take place without drama last summer and it may have left a bitter taste in Tyneside, despite the record fee they received.

In terms of quality and price, Gordon is a proven Premier League option who would be cheaper than Diomande this summer. So, if PSG come calling for the latter, it could be a blessing in disguise.
£75m Gordon transform Liverpool attack
There are many problems for Slot to solve at Liverpool this summer, but adding another dimension to his frontline should be his top priority. The Reds can complain about how the Premier League has evolved, but those complaints will fall on deaf ears when their frontline remains without a quick, willing runner.
Whether it’s Cody Gakpo, Isak, Hugo Ekitike or the young Rio Ngumoha, Liverpool’s frontline consists of players who prefer the ball to their feet. It makes life easy for any opposition when they’re not forced to spin and chase possession against at least one star player.
That’s why signing Gordon is so important. Whilst others prefer ball to feet, he will happily run in behind. It’s where his best work takes place. Meanwhile, out of possession, he’d also add some much-needed intensity back into Liverpool’s press.
Dubbed “clinical” by England boss Thomas Tuchel, it would be a special moment for boyhood Liverpool fan Gordon to make his mark at Anfield next season.
