Chiefs could bring back Tyreek Hill under one condition

Once again, the Kansas City Chiefs are facing major uncertainty around their wide receiver corps.

Rashee Rice won’t be around for the foreseeable future, as he has to recover from knee surgery and is in the process of serving a 30-day jail sentence. As for Xavier Worthy, he has yet to live up to the expectations as a former first-round pick.

That’s why there has been so much speculation about a potential reunion with Tyreek Hill. According to Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano, that could still be in the cards.

However, that’s only going to happen if he’s medically cleared to play before the start of the season.

The Chiefs could sign Tyreek Hill if he’s healthy

“I hesitated with adding Hill to this list because he’s dealing with a significant knee injury that could cost him most of the 2026 season,” Manzano wrote. “But if he’s cleared at any point this season, Hill will likely see plenty of interest because of how dynamic he’s been throughout his 10-year career. Kansas City could have interest in its former wide receiver because it again lacks pass-catchers for Patrick Mahomes.”

Hill is more than familiar with Andy Reid, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and Patrick Mahomes.

Then again, there are major risks associated with signing a player who relied mostly on his speed and elusiveness when he’s coming off a major knee injury and at the back end of his prime.

That said, beggars can’t be choosers, and the Chiefs should be desperate for help for Mahomes.

There haven’t been many updates regarding Hill’s health or condition thus far, so teams can only assume that he’s still not all the way back from his knee injury.

Interest in his services will most definitely pick up at some point in training camp once he’s back out there running routes and showing that he can still beat guys with his speedy legs.

If that’s the case, the Chiefs simply cannot afford to let him sign elsewhere; they’re running out of options to give their Hall of Fame quarterback a reliable weapon.
