Browns’ Myles Garrett linked with two NFC contenders as trade rumors grow louder

It certainly appears that rumors suggesting the Cleveland Browns could trade star pass-rusher Myles Garrett before the 2026 NFL season gets underway won’t be quieting down anytime soon.

It also sounds like some teams feel that Garrett could be available for the right price.

Rams making “‘Godfather’ offer” for Myles Garrett?

Late Sunday night, Green Bay Packers reporter Easton Butler of 247Sports shared that the Los Angeles Rams “have reportedly offered a ‘Ricky Williams-esque’ type trade for Garrett.” According to Butler, the Philadelphia Eagles “are also making a strong push” to land Garrett.

Ahead of the 1999 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints famously traded first-, third-, fourth-, fifth-, sixth- and seventh-round picks in 1999, along with first- and third-round picks in 2000, to the franchise now known as the Washington Commanders for the right to make Williams the fifth overall pick of the’ 99 draft. The Rams paying such a price for Garrett makes sense, on paper, since they are a win-now team with reigning MVP Matthew Stafford serving as their starting quarterback.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have repeatedly been linked with Garrett since he went public with a trade request in February 2025. He eventually signed a four-year, $160M contract extension that included $123.5M guaranteed to stay with the Browns, but some insiders “wouldn’t be stunned” if Cleveland accepted a boatload of draft assets in return for his services this spring or summer.

On Monday morning, Browns reporter Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan said that the Rams and Eagles are “teams to keep an eye on to blow up (Cleveland general manager) Andrew Berry’s phone” regarding a potential Garrett trade. The Eagles are expected to acquire at least one high-value draft pick after they officially trade wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots.

Why Browns may be ready to trade Myles Garrett

“Garrett’s value almost certainly will never be higher than it is now, and multiple contending teams might at least explore giving up future assets for a chance to get Garrett now,” Browns reporter Zac Jackson of The Athletic wrote for a piece published on Monday morning. “Would any of them actually give up three first-round picks? Or two first-rounders plus a young player the Browns covet? That’s hard to say…”

For a mailbag posted late Sunday night, Browns insider Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland/The Land on Demand noted that the fact that Garrett and the club agreed to change when option bonuses attached to his contract would be due “led NFL team execs and salary cap experts to conclude the only reason to do it was to buy time to facilitate a trade.”

“Further,” Grossi continued, “Garrett appears to be ghosting the Browns since the end of last season. I mean, he hasn’t even met the new coaches!”

    Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot
of the Cleveland Plain Dealer previously said that Garrett “will be” in attendance for the club’s mandatory minicamp that is scheduled to begin on June 9. It remains to be seen if Garrett will still be a Cleveland player when that Tuesday morning arrives.
