Notably, the pet system has received a big twist, as players can now purchase critters directly instead of spending time on hatching eggs.

Pets have a twofold purpose. They follow the player in their garden and also activate abilities that affect fruits, beat intruders trying to steal fruits, and improve the plant growth speed.

Grow a Garden 2 allows players to collect over 10 different pets. Each pet in this simulator belongs to a particular rarity, which affects their spawn rates. The rarity hierarchy in ascending order is as follows: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, Mythic, and Super.

You can buy a pet with Sheckles, the in-game currency earned by selling crops. However, making such purchases is only possible if a critter spawns on the map.

How to get pets in Grow a Garden 2

Animals appear occasionally in random spots on the map. Approach any one of them, left-click on it, and then hold the Interact button to purchase it with Sheckles. All animals that pop up on the map have a timer above their head, and once that ends, they despawn.

Once a pet is purchased, it will follow you to your garden. Other players can buy the same pet at a higher price, make it change its direction, and this continues until it reaches the entry point of someone’s garden. Acquiring the best critters is a challenge in public servers, although you can always use a private server to save yourself from such hassle.

Initially, you can keep up to three pets in a garden. The capacity can be increased by purchasing more pet slots, with the fourth slot costing 200,000 Sheckles, and the fifth slot requiring 1,000,000 Sheckles.

Bee: Protects your garden from intruders and is much cheaper than all the other pets that defend garden plots.
Deer: Improve the growth rate of plants, allowing you to harvest crops quickly.
Golden Dragonfly: Doubles the chance for plants and fruits to get the Golden mutation.
Black Dragon: Sets intruders on fire with its breath and makes stealing a fruit from your garden almost impossible.
Raccoon: Automatically sneaks out at night to steal a random fruit from another player’s garden. It also increases your steal limit by 25.
