Rangers chiefs tell club they can sign star if major club record fee is met

Rangers are now ready to sell one of Derek McInnes’ best players if they receive a major club-record fee this summer.

The Gers are already assessing what their summer business could now look like and will be keen to back their new manager in full. Just what that backing looks like is the big question.

Names like Elijah Just are already threatening to steal the headlines, with Rangers reportedly setting their sights on the Motherwell star following his recent World Cup goal for New Zealand.

Competition from Celtic could certainly complicate matters in the race to sign the impressive attacker, however, and that could force the 49ers to look elsewhere.

They have already, of course, added Lawrence Shankland to their ranks, who knows all about life under McInnes. The Scot is likely to be the undisputed starter, and that has created several question marks over the future of another impressive Ibrox star.

For all the rumours about incomings, the Gers could still cash in and land a record sale this summer.

Rangers tell Feyenoord to pay club-record fee for attacker

As reported by ED in the Netherlands and relayed by Daily Record, Rangers have now told Feyenoord that they can sign Youssef Chermiti for a hefty £25m this summer, which could make the forward the club’s most expensive ever sale.

It would be almost as much as £5m more than the £19.6m fee that Calvin Bassey previously left for and Rangers have now communicated their asking price to Feyenoord, making it clear.

Whether the Dutch club decide to match that £25m asking price is now the big question. Chermiti proved to be a big-game player in Scotland last season, ending the campaign on 15 goals. With Shankland arriving, however, his minutes could become limited.

Talks are already underway between Feyenoord and Rangers as a result. For all parties, as the club look to land their top target and the Gers aim to generate funds, a summer exit may make perfect sense.
