Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool preparing major offer after star green lights move

Liverpool have been handed a major boost in pursuit of a top target this summer and are now lining up a big-money offer to secure his signature.

The Reds are in a ruthless mood after a disappointing campaign last time out, having already moved to sack Arne Slot in favour of Andoni Iraola and secure the Spaniard’s first arrival in Victor Munoz.

The Spaniard looked destined for Newcastle United, before Liverpool came back to haunt their transfer foes in familiar fashion to welcome the winger to Anfield.

The Magpies are back to square one, but those in Merseyside are only just getting started. They’re still looking to spend big on another attacker in the coming months.

The likes of Bradley Barcola and Matias Fernandez-Pardo have entered Liverpool’s radar in their hunt for another exciting winger, but it’s no secret that their top target remains Yan Diomande.

Although Anfield chiefs have already seen an offer worth as much as €100m (£87m) turned down for the RB Leipzig star, they’re set to go again and are ready to break the bank just 12 months after spending around £450m on last summer’s additions.

Romano shares key update on Liverpool and Diomande

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are now preparing a major offer to sign Diomande, which should exceed the €100m (£87m) mark and edge closer to Leipzig’s €120m (£104m) asking price.

With negotiations ongoing, Diomande has also made a key decision about his future. As per Romano, the winger is now looking to leave Leipzig this summer, green-lighting a move away from the German club and handing those at Anfield a major boost.

Liverpool weren’t afraid to spend big last summer and could make a statement once again. As the World Cup continues, that asking price for Diomande begins to make more and more sense, too.

The 19-year-old played a crucial role in Ivory Coast’s goal against Germany in the group stage, and has completed eight dribbles in two games at the tournament. To put into context just how impressive that is, the last teenager to complete more dribbles in their first two World Cup games was Lionel Messi.
