“Maine kisi ke sentiments hurt nahi kiye” – Shreyas Iyer’s sister breaks silence on controversial ‘ditta ek point’ reel from IPL 2026

Shreyas Iyer’s sister Shresta Iyer has defended her viral ‘ditta ek point’ reel from IPL 2026. She trolled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the video after the washed-out game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the league stage, suggesting that Punjab gifted a point to Kolkata, who were yet to get off the mark on the points table at that stage.

Host Riteish Deshmukh asked Shresta about the reel during the opening episode of the reality show, ‘Lock Upp’. He pointed out that she hurt the sentiments of KKR fans with the jibe.

The choreographer-dancer emphasized that she didn’t intend to hurt the fans, and it was just banter. Shresta explained:

“Maine kisi ke sentiments hurt nahi kiye hai (I did not hurt anyone’s sentiments). I think it was just fun banter. Sports mein aise fun banters hote rehte hai (Such fun banters are common in sports).”

Shresta Iyer was trolled heavily for the reel after PBKS failed to qualify for the playoffs despite a stunning start to the season. The Shreyas Iyer-led side enjoyed a seven-match unbeaten streak but lost momentum in the second half, ultimately finishing fifth in the table with 15 points.

Shreyas Iyer’s sister deleted the ‘ditta ek point’ reel after receiving threat messages

Shresta Iyer deleted the viral reel after a heavy backlash from fans. She revealed that she even received a few threat messages for the video. The 28-year-old remarked that she did not take down the post because she felt she had done something wrong, but it was to cut down the negativity.

Shresta wrote in her Instagram story:

“I’ve decided to take down my recent video as it seems it was misunderstood by some. It was meant to be light-hearted banter, but I respect that not everyone saw it that way. However, it’s been quite upsetting to receive not just negativity, but also a few threat messages over it.

“That’s something I didn’t expect, especially for something that was never intended to harm anyone. I’m not removing the video because I believe I did something wrong, but because I respect my brother and his team, and I don’t want this space to turn into one filled with negativity… Let’s try to be a little kinder and more understanding with each other.”

Notably, KKR and Shreyas Iyer parted ways after a title-winning campaign in 2024. The right-handed batter was subsequently signed by PBKS at ₹26.75 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction.
